Peskov: Russia unaware of Nord Stream-2 certification date

MOSCOW, Dec 17 (PRIME) -- Russia has no information about the timing of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline certification, but Nord Stream 2 AG continues to cooperate with Germany’s Federal Network Agency BNA agency, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Friday.

“As far as we know, the company continues to communicate with the regulator and continues the certification process... It is not for us to predict when it will happen,” Peskov said.

Peskov said that it is “up to the regulator” to deal with the matter, and Moscow is not pressed for time.

On Thursday, the Bloomberg news agency said citing the German regulator that no decision will be made on the Nord Stream-2 pipeline in the first half of 2022.

The regulator suspended certification on November 16 saying that the pipeline’s independent operator should be a German company, while Nord Stream AG 2 is registered in Switzerland.

Nord Stream AG 2 said on Wednesday that it is working on establishment of a subsidiary in Germany, but did not comment on either the timing or details of the procedure.
